Burj Al Arab – Dubai, UAE

If there is an iconic symbol of Dubai that would be Burj Al Arab.

Burj Al Arab was known as the world’s first 7* hotel. I worked in a 5* Luxury Resort a decade ago (or more šŸ˜€) unfortunately it was not the Burj.

But here are some trivia you need to know about this first class hotel:

Let me tell you a story:

I was new in Dubai and a guest I helped out locating a penthouse to move in asked if I want to see their new place. This gay couple was so insistent I said yes. They said, after viewing their penthouse (yes, it was massive! šŸ˜±) we can go for tea or coffee, I was thinking great Starbucks! šŸ˜‚

So we went to their penthouse which was immaculate and then they said, let’s go for coffee. They have a driver that took us to Burj and I was like šŸ˜± It was surreal.

The interior is beyond amazing and the views absolutely spectacular. Apparently everything you think is gold is actual gold (plated) and it was all done with impeccable taste. You go in, you smell rich people. šŸ¤‘

They have a panoramic lift that has view of the World. Okay, it’s the mechanical island called, The World. But you get the point.

This German couple were so nice and they even offered me a job. They were starting a business and they need a person to help them because they will be in and out of šŸ‡¦šŸ‡Ŗ.

The thing is, I am not a go-getter. I always have doubts and I am extremely paranoid. Me going out with them alone was a giant leap. So of course, I have to decline that offer.

But I was appreciative.

Please note: the hotel has a policy that we cannot go out with guests. However, during that time they were no longer guests of the hotel. They already moved to the penthouse. So technically, they were not guests of the hotel. šŸ¤©

The second time I went was with my colleagues. It was called a Site Inspection. Part of my teams job was making reservations on restaurants outside of the hotel. And we get offered gift certificates from restaurants once we reach a quota.

We had our first date (High Tea) at Burj Al Arab for Valentine’s Day.

After our Burj Afternoon Tea at the Skyview Bar we decided to take a stroll at Souk Madinat Jumeirah.

Celebrated Glaiza’s birthday at the Burj – Al Iwan.

One day, I will go back to šŸ‡¦šŸ‡Ŗ but the world is vast and there’s so many place to explore. So for the meantime I’ll try to go somewhere else. And comfort myself with the knowledge that once I called this place home.
