Newport Cliffwalk – Rhode Island

The Cliff Walk is considered one of Newport’s top attractions. The juxtaposition of serene bay view and the opulence of the Newport mansions is worth the walk.

I suggest comfy shoes if you want to do the entire walk of 3.5 miles. There will be joggers and dog walkers as well.

I used to work in Newport circa 2012-2014 as a Front Desk Agent in a hotel downtown.

I never had great experience working in that hotel, 95% of the people I worked with were unfriendly and condescending. One of the Managers were so chummy with other workers but always guarded on my presence. The other Manager was definitely not a good role model, thinks so highly of himself and taught me that I should not be using slang infront of guests. Dude, had you taken time to listen to me interact with guests you would’ve known I never use slang. I’m very professional and you telling me that, yet infront of a guest you said, “I have no beef with you!” ๐Ÿ˜ณ is reason enough for me to think of you as a douche.

That same Manager creeps me out, he reminded me of Buffalo Bill. In case you don’t know the reference, it’s from a classic movie called Hannibal. Whenever he talks to me I visualize him saying, “put the lotion in the ๐Ÿงบ put the lotion in your skin.” ๐Ÿ˜‚

A few people deserved the Medal of Honor for graduating with flying colors from the elite school of Douche-baggery. ๐Ÿคฃ I had a coworker who went to work drunk, I had a Supervisor who demanded for me to go to work for an hour when I was ๐Ÿค’ and told me to come 7am for an hour until she arrives (Dude, are you effin’ kidding me? You want me to take the ๐ŸšŒ for an hour drive and work for an hour while I was delirious? I was so offended that I hated her guts from then on!). I also cried out of frustration at this (un-named) ๐Ÿจ because the confidence they exude do not match the competence expected.

I always feel excluded and judged. Possibly because I was the only Asian at the Front Office and one of the 2 Filipinas at the restaurant told me that she refuse to speak our language. I was baffled because her Filipino diction and accent was very pronounced yet she “refuse” to speak our language? With me? So pretentious! Such hypocrisy shakes my core. ๐Ÿคฎ

The silver lining was meeting my first ever friend in Rhode Island. Her name is Akima and she finds me hilarious. Idk why but she just laughs at all my jokes. ๐Ÿ˜‚ She even laugh when I was serious! ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

This boutique hotel is one of the finest in Newport. At one point I was tempted to work here. I was offered a job at this hotel and Castle Hill Inn but I was done working in Newport. I also do not drive and both are quite far from a bus station. But mostly, much as I love this place I honestly do not want to work here anymore.

I love Newport. The feeling of being posh for a day when you rub elbows with fabulously laid back people makes me happy.

Even for just a day. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Newport will always have a place in my heart. I will continue to be in awe of its opulence and elegance. I will always feel giddy when I visit this place.

Fashionably I belong, but my heart will always be in Providence. ๐Ÿฅฐ
